Dimensional Weight Calculator

Compare actual and volumetric weight for parcel billing.

Method and assumptions

Carriers bill the greater of actual and dimensional weight. Measure the outer packed carton and use the divisor stated in the current carrier contract.

Metric dimensional weight = length × width × height / divisor in cm³ per kg. Imperial dimensional weight = cubic inches / divisor.

Common questions

Which dimensional divisor should I use?

Use the divisor in your carrier and service-level agreement. Common examples are not guaranteed to match your contracted rate.

Should I measure the product or the carton?

Use the final packed outer dimensions, including protective material and any carton bulge.
