Method and assumptions
Air freight normally charges the greater of gross and volumetric weight. Use packed carton dimensions and the divisor stated by the forwarder.
Volumetric weight = total carton volume in cm³ / divisor. Chargeable weight is the greater of gross and volumetric weight, rounded to the selected step.
Common questions
Is the divisor always 6,000?
No. Forwarders and services may use different divisors, so use the value in the quotation.
Does the estimate include fuel and security surcharges?
Only when they are already included in the entered per-kilogram rate or minimum charge.
